In October 2007, we went for a testdrive on the brand new 3,6km track des Ecuyers at Beuvardes that was only open since a few weeks.
Beuvardes is only 15 km² and has 650 residents. It's situated in the Château-Thierry district that is part of the Aisne department, which at its turn belongs to the Picardie region. Situated between Paris and Reims, at 13 km of Château-Thierry and a little further away from the famous Epernay, it's frankly strategically situated.
At 12 km, there's the idyllic village of Fère-en-Tardenois with its beautiful Château de Fère (for images, check our track-reportage). |
| The paddock's equipment is very elementary. What we appreciated :
there are 2 lavatories, 2 showers, a little meeting room for 80 people where a course can be given and where a lunch can be taken, and 2 changing-rooms. What was less appreciated : no electricity available (like at Mas du Clos), (at that moment) , no overnight stay possibilities on the track. |

The track has no GP-track top speed, but is nevertheless very interesting : 3.600 m of fun, amongst which a nice long straight which descends slightly at the end. This makes it rather difficult to define a braking point; also a lot of very technical turns. One of them doesn't only keep on turning, but is also slightly off-camber, which even increases its difficulty. For lessons and for beginners, this is a superb track. But also experienced riders will have a lot of fun on it, and above all, they will be able to train their turning technique for the big events on the GP tracks on our calendar ! |
