The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is a 4.692 kilometers (2.915 mi) race circuit located in Portimão, in the Algarve district in Portugal.

With a total cost of €195 million, the "Algarve Motor Park" includes one of the most modern and multi-functional race circuits in the world, including also a karting track, technology park, five-star hotel, sports complex and apartments.

Construction was finished in October 2008 and the circuit was homologated by both the FIM on 11 Oct 2008 and the FIA two days later.

In an incredible short time, all the important competition organisers had understood that this brand new fantastic track was going to become very quick one of the absolute TOP tracks in Europe.

 

The circuit hosted the final round of the Superbike World Championship (website) on 2 Nov 2008.

 

Schumi came to say hello on the grid, to 3 times world champion SBK Troy Bayliss who said farewell to the motorsport @ Portimao by winning both superbike races.
During the 1st European STK 600 race ever @ Portimao, it was the sympathic EYBIS rider Gino Rea (44) who took pole, and won 
On 24 Nov 2008, EYBIS.com announced to go to Portimao in 2009.
On 27 Jan 2009, the enrolments to ride @ Portimao on Thursday-Friday-Saturday 8-9-10 Oct 2009 were finally opened.

Two weeks after the EYBIS 2009 Portimao event, the last World Superbikes, Supersport and Superstock races of 2009 will be held on the same track.

You can fly cheap to the Faro airport, which is only 40 km away from the track.

In the meantime, it has been confirmed that one of the corners of the circuit was named after former World Supersport rider Craig Jones who sadly passed away during a motorcycle crash at Brands Hatch in 2008.
